FreeLand Youth Camp

Monday, July 12, 2010 delegates eagerly began their week at Freeland Youth Camp. Special Thanks to all who attended and to Jamie Griffin, Ameenah Ameen, Ashley Robinson, Cindy Sakaan (board member), Donesha Crumb, Jalisa Joyner, Jerry Kimball, Laura Ingram (board member), Molly Okeon (board member), Zach Sakaan.
In addition to the above named staff, who help organize, provide food, execute, recruit, provide transportation and just make sure we had everything we needed to run camp, we certainly want to thank those who came out in a show of support on Visitors’ Day (Lee Filderman, Carolyn Head, & Laura Ingram) as well. Plus Chuck Scruggs for coming out to speak with the campers about staying involved with the organization.
For more information about camp, contact the office at 901.405.9555

Common Threads

Early in July, Jamie Griffin spent the day with a group from the United Methodist Churches who are working on issues of Diversity. Jamie conducted the Common Threads program and by all accounts, everyone involved was pleased with the results. If you are interested in this program, please call the office at 405.9555 for more information.

Multi-faith Dialogue

Diversity Memphis works with a broad spectrum of our faith communities' leaders and members to design programs that provide information, education and the opportunity to participate in interactive learning. Through social, prayerful, powerful exchanges we learn about each other and the faith communities in our city. We examine the ties that bind us together and the differences that make us unique

FreeLand Youth Camp

Our youth camp, named after long time supporter Dennis Freeland, brings together high school students from diverse backgrounds to provide opportunities for leadership, learning and social engagement. We believe that children are our future and by broadening their horizons we can change our world. Programs designed for weekends, a weeklong camp, and special day and evening gatherings introduce delegates to a unique experience. Social networks are established, prejudices examined, and the opportunity to create a land free from bias, bigotry and racism becomes a reality.

Adult Programs

Programs designed to discuss sensitive subjects such as Disparities in Healthcare, workplace issues and examination of those common threads that bind us together are designed and implemented following extensive discussion.
Programs are interactive and involve participants in a postive experience that utilzes humor and personal examination of issues. Discussion and dialogue are essential elements.
