2011 Humanitarian Awards Information

Join us Thursday, May 26, at the Esplanade, 901 Cordova Station, Cordova, TN for the sixth annual Humanitarian Awards Dinner featuring cultural food stations. The reception will begin at 6:30 PM, Dinner following at 7:00 PM.

Bert Bornblum

Bert Bornblum is a well known philanthropist who has made sure that education has benefitted from his involvement. Whether the University of Memphis or Southwest Tennessee Community College, he is always willing to make sure the communities needs are met.

Ron Childers

Ron Childers is well know as the Channel 5 weatherman; however, his involvement in the community is what sets Ron apart. His conitinuing commitment to Memphis and helping to make Memphis a better place for all of us is another side of Ron, not often seen.

Rose Flenorl

Rose Flenorl has been active in our community with FedEx, IBM, International Paper and The Diversity Institute. Along the way she has been active with the NAACP, NCRM and many other organizations that are making a difference in our community.

Dr. Bashar Shala

Dr. Shala’s personal interests in practice are interventional therapy for Coronary Artery Disease and Peripheral Vascular Disease, armed with special training in Stent placement, LASER ablation and Atherectomy. However it is his faith and the unique relationship with one of our other honorees that deserve special attention.

Rev. Steve Stone

Rev. Steve Stone, Pastor of Heartsong Church truly beleives that you should do unto others as you would have them do unto you. When the Islamic Cultural Center needed a place to worship, Rev. Stone and his congregation opened its doors and hearts. A lesson we should all learn.

Rev. Sandy Willson

Rev. Sandy Wilson of Second Presbyterian Church has made sure that congregants and others with whom he has contact, understand that working in the community is the key to making things better. It is the action that truly exemplifies the thoughts and without action we are simply not doing all we can.
